Follow the steps given below to do so. I want you to go through all the steps very carefully as any thing can create complications.
You have to reverse do the steps you had done while upgrading to Pie. That’s it. Follow the steps given below:-
Warning : I would recommend you to take backup of your contacts, files and everything else before preceding to further steps. So, if you got stuck with the steps and loses your data then you can get it back. Meanwhile this downgrade will delete all the data on your mobile. So it’s better to take backup instead of losing all the things.
- First of all you need to Download the Android 8.1 Factory Image for your nexus phone. You can download it on your computer by clicking this link. It is provided by Google Developers, After clicking the link, you’ll see different Nexus models on the screen. Then choose the model which you’re having. Now in front of Android 8.1 click the link given below the download column.
- Now a pop up will appear, simply download the file on your computer.
- Now you have to download ADB tool on your computer. Click this link. If you have ADB tools then you can precede to further steps.
- Now you have to transfer Factory Image that you have downloaded to ADB tools and then unzip it there.
- Make sure, USB Debugging is enabled on your nexus mobile in order to continue.(To Check go to Settings >> Developer Options >> Now Check mark the box next to USB Debugging if not Check marked already Or Go to About and keep on tapping Build Number until you see a pop >> Ones the Pop Up is appeared go to Settings from the bottom and then Check for USB Debugging )
- Now you’ve to ensure that Bootloader is unlocked on your device. If it is unlocked then proceed to the further steps otherwise follow these steps to unlock it(Turn off your Nexus >> Press and Hold Power and Volume Down button to enter into Fastboot menu >> Now Connect your Nexus with your Computer >> Go to ADB Tools folder >> Now in the ADB Tools folder Hold Shift and Right Click on the free space of Windows Explorer Window >> Select Open Command Window Here >> Ones the command window is opened enter this command fastboot oem unlock >> Now press the Volume Up button to accept the command and Power button to confirm the action >> You are Done Bootloader is Unlocked)
- Now you’ve to turn off your Nexus.
- After that you’re supposed to press Volume button down and power button to enter into the fast mode in Nexus. You will be headed to Recovery mode.
- After all these steps, scroll below and select wipe cache partition, using volume button then press the power button to confirm what you’ve done.
- Then scroll to Wipe Data/Factory reset.
- Now you need to plugin your nexus using your USB cable into your computer.
- After plugging in your device, Open ADB tools folder on your computer and search for flash-all.bat file in the ADB tools folder.
- Once the file is found, double click on it.
- It’ll start the process automatically. Now you have to keep patience. Once it is done, it’ll restart your Nexus and now it is running on Android Oreo.
- Now you will get a downgrading notification. Ignore them.
- Congratulations! You have succesfully downgraded Android Pie to Oreo on Nexus.
